FROM TRAUMA
TO TRANSCENDENCE

At age 24, I was diagnosed with a one-in-a-million synovial sarcoma cancer. That healing journey was one of the most powerful awakenings of my life & the conduit for the work I put out into the world.

AS SEEN IN:

Kara Ladd is the CEO & Founder of 2nd House, a new conscious convenience store concept opening in Brooklyn. She’s also an award-winning multimedia entrepreneur and spiritual embodiment advocate working at the intersection of holistic health and hospitality.

After overcoming a one-in-a-million synovial sarcoma diagnosis at age 24, Kara experienced a profound awakening that reshaped her relationship to her body, her work and the world. She left her 9-to-5 as Hearst Digital Media’s first-ever E-Commerce & Partnerships Editor—where she produced content across all 28 digital titles—and founded KL, a conscious marketing consultancy. Since then, she has partnered with and built storytelling strategies for nearly one hundred spiritual health and wellness brands including Sakara, wthn and Sundays studio.

Over the past seven years, Kara has become a leading voice in the conscious living space, cultivating a meaningful and intentional community through her creative ventures: her conscious lifestyle podcast (relaunching soon); Substack on soul-led living; and her immersive workshops, retreats, and talks centered on embodiment and transformation.

Her work has been featured in 20+ top publications, including The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar, Health and Elle. She has collaborated with leading global hospitality brands such as Ritz Reserve, Soho House, EDITION and JW Marriott, as well as institutions including Harvard Business School.

When she’s not creating or traveling, Kara can typically be found on her yoga mat, sipping coffee, and grounding in the heart of her Brooklyn community.
